D.K. Johnston is an Assistant Director Producer and Voice Over Artist, who has been studying production since he was old enough to pick up a camera. Over the last 15 years he has crewed numerous feature length projects, short films, reality programs and commercial productions all over the United States. A graduated of the University of Alaska Anchorage Journalism program and the New York Film Academy’s MFA Film program, D.K. has written multiple award winning screenplays and produced several award winning short films. He best known for his skills as an Assistant Director for feature film and commercials. Building solid production teams, and promoting positive work environments.
Born in South Texas, raised in Anchorage, Alaska and trained in Los Angeles, California, D.K.’s professional career has taken him all over the United States and Mexico. Producing various national and international productions. D.K. has also worked to help develop and promote educational resources for aspiring filmmakers. In Alaska he is a former board member of several non-profit film groups including the Alaska Film Group, Alaska Film Forum, and he remains a current, and founding chair member, of Alaska Filmmakers. In Colorado he sat on the board of the Colorado Film & Video Association, and was a regular guest speaker at various workshops and forums on indie filmmaking. Since moving to Georgia he has a been a speaker at several workshops on Assistant Directing, and is a regular guest lecturer at the Savannah College of Art & Design’s Film program in Atlanta. Before departing Anchorage, D.K. was selected as one of Alaska’s Top 40 Under 40 by the Alaska Journal of Commerce in 2015.
